Thank you for your interest in participating in an interview about home energy retrofits.
Burning natural gas for heating and hot water in buildings accounts for nearly 60% of carbon pollution generated in Vancouver. Of that pollution, about 1/3 comes from our 98,000 existing detached houses.
The City of Vancouver is working on a plan to reduce emissions from existing detached houses across the city. To help us develop a plan that is fair and equitable, we want to interview a diverse cross-section of people living in detached houses and duplexes. This will help us learn more about the various heating systems, and better understand what barriers and opportunities exist to reduce their energy use and emissions.
We will use what we hear from these interviews, along with research to inform our draft Green Home Retrofit Plan, which we will share in October for feedback.
About the interviews:
- As we want to hear from a cross-section of Vancouverites we are asking people to fill out this short recruitment form. We will select participants to interview based on the information provided.
- Information will be kept confidential and will only be used to organize interviews and inform the Green Home Retrofit Plan.
- The information that is collected is for research for this project and will not be shared.
- Interviews will be approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted over the phone.
- Interviews will take place in June.
- Interview questions will focus on your experience living in and maintaining a home, along with barriers and opportunities, such as costs and financing of renovations, or the need for advice or assistance in making decisions.
